MY BODY by EMILY RATAJKOWSKI - a book review
Dear Reader,
A few days ago I read my first non-fiction novel.
My rating: 4,8 / 5 ⭐
Goodreads rating: 4,09 / 5 ⭐
Emily's book did not disappoint. I read this book in 3 sittings and it has been a while since I devoured a book like that.
I was absolutely obsessed with how raw, vivid and straight forward her words were. Emily writes with such technique that you feel the whole story on your skin. As I was reading about those "men" she mentions, I felt their eyes and their touch on my skin. Their claws gripping me and not letting go. Suffocation.
This novel supports the fact that pretty privilege does exist, however it doesn't make life easier. Well maybe in some ways yes, but it has a huge price and a long list of spiritual and physical damage that the person will carry with themselves for their whole life. Not many people - especially young girls - make it for long in such toxic, painful and dangerous environment.
Emily really called out all those nasty people with her novel. I'm not sure they got what they deserve, because at the end of the day this was / is a mans world...However I hope that by writing and publishing this masterpiece she got a little piece and justice in her heart.
